Niq Mhlongo

Niq Mhlongo was born in Soweto. He has a BA from Wits University, with majors in African Literature and Political Studies. His first novel,Dog Eat Dog, was published in 2004 and was translated into Spanish under the title Perro Come Perro in 2006. This Spanish edition was awarded the Mar de Letras prize. His other publications include After Tears (2007), Way Back Home (2013), Affluenza (2016), Soweto Under The Apricot Tree (2018), Black Tax (2019), Paradise in Gaza (2020), Joburg Noir (2020) and Hauntings (2021). Mhlongo received both the Nadine Gordimer Award and the Herman Charles Bosman Prize for his book of short stories, Soweto, Under the Apricot Tree.
