Zack Mtombeni, a participant in the NATi Rising Stars Project of 2022, is not only a professional actor, but also a successful writer, producer and now director. His debut feature film, Pheletso, premièred at this year’s Joburg Film Festival and starts streaming on Showmax from the 18th of April 2025.
Pheletso
Six people’s lives are drastically affected by a fatal motor vehicle collision. KB Maponyane is a charming twenty-something who owns a night club with his brother, Mandla. KB seems to have it all – a lavish lifestyle, popularity, and a beautiful girlfriend, Nolwazi Bhengu, who is a dancer at his night club. After a wild night KB wakes up in hospital, with almost no recollection of how he ended up there. As he puzzles together the events leading up to his hospitalization, he finds out that he was in a head on collision with Nolwazi’s brother and mother. Her mother did not survive.
Being the least experienced among the greats, my imposter syndrome was obviously going crazy! But somehow, deep down, I felt like this was one of those projects that God had been preparing me for my whole life. So, I was ready to take on the world. We hope the audience enjoys the film as much as we enjoyed making it.
