The Department of English Literature and The Book Lounge invite you to join them for a conversation between Barbara Boswell and Wisani Mushwana as part of the UCT Writers Series.
They will be talking about Barbara Boswell’s latest novel, The Comrade’s Wife, which Boswell wrote during her stay at Paulet House.
Barbara Boswell is a writer, scholar and facilitator who is passionate about writing and its healing and transformative potential. She is currently based in Cape Town, South Africa, as Associate Professor of English Literature at the University of Cape Town, where she teaches and studies black diasporic women’s writing, Black South African women’s literature and queer theory.
Her latest novel, The Comrade’s Wife, is set in contemporary South Africa and meditates on personal and political power, and how these intersect as it follows a tumultuous marriage between an up-and-coming politician and an academic.
