“Khadija Tracey Heeger is ’n performance poet en skrywer van die Kaap. Sy het twee multimedia poëtiese teaterstukke, Stone Words (2007) en Uhadi (2013) (in samewerking metToni Stuart, Ncebakazi Mnukwana en Christopher Ferndale), geskryf en opgevoer, en haar debuutbundel Beyond the Delivery Room het in 2013 by Modjaji verskyn. As skrywer en kulturele fasiliteerder het sy al saam met organisasies soos die Jazzart Dance Theatre, die Centre for Curating the Archive, die District Six Museum, die Institute for Justice and Reconciliation, en die Daily Music Show, ’n Kaapstadse poetry en ghoema-jazz venue, gewerk. Sy het ook al in menigte films en TV-reekse verskyn, insluitend Sara se Geheim (2017), Arendsvlei (2018), Die Ellen Pakkies Storie (2018), Alles Malan (2019), Afgrond (2021), en Down So Long (2022). Sy werk op die oomblik aan haar tweede digbundel.

Is a published poet, actress, facilitator, cultural activist, who hails from the Cape Flats. Her poetic work has been characterised as stark and unapologetic. Khadija’s debut poetry collection is called Beyond the delivery room may be found at The Book Lounge. Her 2nd collection, Thicker than Sorrow will be available from the 9th August 2022. Publisher Modjaji Books.
More recently Khadija’s acting career has and is at the fore as her artistic expression at the moment.
She is featured in Arendsvlei, Alles Malan, Afgrond, Sewende Laan, Recipes for Love & Murder, Krismis van Map Jacobs and Down so Long a movie shot in 2019 in Hangberg, in Hout Bay, in which Khadija is the lead actress opposite Tshumano Sebe. It was part of Silverskerm 2022 & she was nominated for best actress award. Avokado, a film detailing the lives of the wealthy Willemse family has recently been screened on Flieknet. Khadija plays matriarch Sylvia Willemse.
Her international stuff include Recipes for Love & Murder, Low Rider, Spinners and Locked Up Abroad.
She still maintains a close eye on the heritage sector as it pertains to identity which features prominently in her performance poetry.
