In samewerking met die Suidoosterfees, Artscape en New Voices, en die ondersteuning van NATi, belê ons in die ontwikkeling van ontluikende dramaturge se talente met hierdie gedeelde projek.
Na ’n intensiewe toneelskryfprogram by Paulet Huis sal die jong dramaturge se werk ontwikkel word sodat dit by die volgende jaar se Suidoosterfees kan debuteer. Waar die Stigting al die kostes dek van die dramaturge se verblyf by Paulet Huis, dra die Suidoosterfees, met die ondersteuning van NATi, die produksiefooie om die teaterstukke op die planke te bring. Artscape onderskraag die teatermakers met repetisielokale, kostuums en tegniese hulp.
Ons is trots om aan te kondig dat een van Suid-Afrika se mees gevierde en veelsydige aktrises, Jana Cilliers, vanjaar ons inwonende skrywer is tydens die NATi Jong Sterre-toneelskryfprogram.
Jana Cilliers is een van Suid-Afrika se mees gevierde en veelsydige aktrises, met ’n indrukwekkende loopbaan wat toneel, film en televisie insluit. Haar werk het haar talle Beste Aktrise-toekennings en ’n magdom benoemings besorg.
Jana Cilliers sal vanjaar in die laaste week van die NATi Jong Sterre program by Oscar Petersen aansluit as ’n inwonende teatermaker om ons kandidate te inspireer en haar kennis en ervaring van die teaterbedryf met hulle te deel.
Aansoeke vir die toneelskryfprogram is nou gesluit en suksesvolle kandidate sal teen 8 Augustus aangekondig word. Dié residensie vind van 8 tot 28 September 2025 by Paulethuis op KwaNojoli in die Oos-Kaap plaas.
In collaboration with the Suidoosterfees, Artscape and New Voices, and with the support of NATi, we invest in the development of emerging playwrights’ talents through this shared project.
After an intensive playwriting programme at Paulet House, the young playwrights’ work will be developed to make their debut at the following year’s Suidoosterfees. While the Foundation covers all the accommodation costs of the playwrights at Paulet House, the Suidoosterfees, with the support of NATi, covers the production fees to bring the plays to the stage. Artscape supports the playwrights by providing rehearsal spaces, costumes and technical assistance.
We are proud to announce that one of South Africa’s most celebrated and versatile actresses, Jana Cilliers, is our writer-in-residence this year during the NATi Jong Sterre-toneelskryfprogram.
Jana Cilliers is one of South Africa’s most celebrated and versatile actresses, with an accomplished career spanning theatre, film and television. Her work has earned her numerous Best Actress awards and a multitude of nominations.
This year, Jana Cilliers will join Oscar Petersen in the final week of the NATi Rising Stars programme as a resident theatre maker, inspiring our candidates and sharing her knowledge and experience of the theatre industry with them.
Applications for the playwriting programme are now closed, and successful candidates will be announced by 8 August. This residency will take place at Paulet House in KwaNojoli in the Eastern Cape from 8 to 28 September 2025.
