Jane Mpholo, an acclaimed theatre practitioner and dynamic social impact activist, has been recognized across multiple prestigious platforms this year, marking a significant milestone in her career.

Jane has been honored with the Cultural and Creative Award for “Outstanding Actor in Theatre 2024” and has earned a finalist spot at the Fabulous Woman awards for her impactful work in using art to address gender-based violence (GBV). Her latest achievement includes a nomination for the DSTV Content Creator Awards in the “Emerging Creator Award” category, reflecting her growing influence and creativity in the digital space.

It is a full circle moment for me. In the past, I had many award-winning moments for my first short film ‘Cleanse,’ which made international festival rounds. This was followed by recognitions for my social impact work, including being listed in the Mail and Guardian 200 Young South Africans and the News24 Young Mandelas of the Future. To now receive accolades across theatre, activism, and content creation all in the same year is truly fascinating.

Jane’s primary platform is TikTok, where she has captivated an audience of over 130,000 followers with her unique portrayal of a Sotho character known for her stubbornness and humorous scams. Jane introduced this character to reconnect with her Sotho roots and to hone her comedic skills. “I felt a huge disconnect with my language after going to university,” Jane recalled. “By combining my love for acting and social media, I aimed to bridge that gap and improve my language and comedic abilities.”
