NoxieKay’s new song

Noxolo Kheswa aka NoxieKay was part of the Jakes Gerwel Foundation / Suidoosterfees’ Mentorship Programme for Young Songwriters 2022 where she was mentored by acclaimed musicians and theatre makers Frazer Barry of Tribal Echo and Zolani Mahola of Freshly Ground-fame,

She fulfilled her desire to “grasp” as much as she could from mentorship at the foundation’s Paulet House, especially learning how to “accommodate the audience with sound”.

Last month, NoxieKay took to the stage at Suidoosterfees, Artscape with fellow songwriters Carlo Fortune, Kele M, Sphamandla Dlakwe and Kerischnie Pheiffer in their Diamonds in the Dust concert which received rave reviews.

Tribal Echo with Frazer Barry, Deniel Barry, Earl Witbooi and Charlton Davids were their band.

Diamonds in the Dust lived up to their promise to lift spirits with “a sense of pride for our beautiful country and our amazing people”, Their unique sound explorations flowed from a multitude of diverse musical cultures – Afropop, soul, R&B, African traditional music, Afrikaans folk, hip-hop and slam poetry.
