Mentorship Programme for Young Songwriters

The Jakes Gerwel Foundation and the Suidoosterfees offer a mentorship programme for singers and songwriters who create original hit songs in Afrikaans, English, or isiXhosa. For this programme, we are specifically looking for young artists who can benefit from the experience and guidance of a mentor to develop popular new lyrics and songs. After completion of the programme, the participants will perform in a production at the Suidoosterfees in Cape Town to showcase their talents. Frazer Barry and Zolani Mahola are the mentors.

So now I am getting ready for a new time, where nothing will be the same as before. A time in which I hope the music will make you and me feel something really good and will keep us hopeful that together we can continue to bring about positive change through our shared talents.
The candidates selected for participation in the initiative had been announced recently. They are Carlo Fortune, Kele M, Kerischne Pheiffer, Noxolo Kheswa and Sphamandla Dlakwe. During the mentorship their skills in writing lyrics and professional stage performance will be developed and fine-tuned.
Name van die kandidate wat vanjaar vir deelname gekwalifiseer het, is pas aangekondig. Hulle is Carlo Fortune, Kele M, Kerischne Pheiffer, Noxolo Kheswa en Sphamandla Dlakwe. Dié vyf sal deur Barry en Mahola touwys gemaak word in die fyner kuns van liedjieskryf en professionele verhoogoptrede.
The guitar and the piano are my magic instruments, they will bring out all the hidden treasures, there’s something those two instruments do that makes sense to my soul musically.
