Susan Meiring: Rainbow Primary celebrated in style

Thursday 7th December 2023 was a major turning point for grade 7 learners of Rainbow Primary School in Wesbank. A year of hard work paid off when they celebrated their ‘Prom.’ It is being said that if children do good, they should be given recognition and receive appraisal for it. Due to personal challenges within most households, these children find it hard to even exist … let alone complete primary education. To have a positive influence and contribute to the moulding of stronger personalities, for these vulnerable young ones, moments need to be created that serves as motivation because they lose interest so easily. They are subjected to lives where outings and/or fancy events are beyond their Ethem.

Wesbank is a school based in an area where most children enjoy limited activities and development spaces during spare time. Distraction is quite easy, and it is therefore a huge moment for parents bending under the pressure, to see their kids reach this moment of exiting primary level of education entering a new era of their lives. Parents are proud of their children’s ability to somehow sidestep peer pressure, so they bend their backs to have their children participate, as form of appreciation.

Sy sien die geleentheid om die Kommadagga-slypskool by te woon as kardinaal vir haar skrywerstoekoms: “Die waardevolle leiding sal my help om my potensiaal ten volle te ontwikkel. Ek glo dat my toekomstige skryfwerk, hetsy boeke of kortverhale, daarvan sal getuig. Baie dankie aan almal wat dit vir my moontlik maak om op hierdie manier gebrei te word.”
