Blue Crane Book Project: Training 40 reading assistants

The Jakes Gerwel Foundation is grateful to Nal’ibali for recently offering their assistance in training our 40 reading assistants. Dr Zakaza equipped the group with practical tips on how to help children read better in a passionate and accessible manner. We are also thankful to the Greater Stellenbosch Trust and the Social Employment Fund for empowering us to invest in the future of young people in the Eastern Cape.

Word by word, and book by book, we will continue to work towards eradicating our children’s reading backlogs. It was meaningful to present the training at the Professor Jakes Gerwel Community Centre in Aeroville, KwaNojoli.

All assistants with (in front) Jean-Pierre du Plessis (Greater Stellenbosch Trust), Dr Zakaza (Nal’ibali) and Theo Kemp (Jakes Gerwel Foundation).
