A place where stories unfold

Tankwa: A poem inspired by the landscape….

In a desert full of weeds,

So dead yet so alive.

The grass resembles autumn,

The breeze is seemingly cold.

There’s a huge sense of what once was…

Dead or alive, I wonder.

The only green I see is of things that don’t belong,

Trees that invaded the space,

Life that took over the existence of others.

This is no tree of life,

It simulates innocence taken.

Humans stepping on sacred grounds,

Walking away with pride while mother nature cries,

Looking at all her creations quickly amounting to nothingness.

How come the tiny flower is struggling to exist?

Why does this feel so close to home?
