I started working at UWC this month and must say, so far it has been a nice, hectic journey. Learning new things at the speed of lightning.
So, I changed my submission in the Seasons anthology (Tshienda’s first Anthology: Seasons (Vol.1), because I wanted the teen prayer book (Die Here kom sterk deur) to be a standalone book. Therefore, I resubmitted ten poems focusing on women and their journeys (Seasons) to fit in with the other two ladies that were first and third in the Tshienda Publications Writing Competition, respectively. The anthology will be available next month.

I accepted only 2 Women’s Month invites this year, because I started a new job and need to slack down a bit.
9 August 2023 – All Saints Anglican Church Belhar
My topic: Healing in my heels
Discussion: Holistic healing and to practice self-preservation
The youth arranged the event, and it was well attended with about 200 people. Touching on issues relating to our mental, emotional, financial, and physical issues I sensitised the adults on things that society has normalised. Such as men still controlling the purse because that is how we were brought up. Touching on other transgenerational unspoken matters.
19 August 2023 – Bothasig Hall
My topic: Be the right fit – linking it to their request to discuss teenage pregnancy.
Invitation from the Old Apostolic Youth (that region)
This event was organised by the Old Apostolic Church focusing on youth development within the region.
Using my vellies that was not the right fit yet, I illustrated that you need to find out who you are, to be the right fit for yourself. Also, using that background explaining how teenage pregnancy impacts your life, mentally, emotionally, physically and a little bit financially.
26 August 2023 – 6th Annual Global AfriCAN Honoree Authors Awards 2023
I received an honorary award for my three poems submitted in the Poets Vannie Kaap’s Lekka Poems- Volume 2, from the 6th Annual Global AfriCAN Honoree Authors Awards 2023.
Poets Vannie Kaap held their first Gala Evening and handed over the awards and certificates to us.
September will hopefully be a quiet month, allowing me to submit my portfolios for my Honours degree and October I will be flying to Joburg to present my abstract on sexual grooming at the 27th Annual Congress of the Psychological Society of South Africa (PsySSA).
